1. Set a Budget Before You Log In
Decide your monthly entertainment budget for betting before you open the app. Treat it like a Netflix subscription or a cinema budget — money you've already accepted as gone in exchange for entertainment value. If the loss would change your monthly life materially, the stake is too high.
2. Use the Built-In Deposit Limit
PariPulse account settings let you cap deposits per day, week or month. Once set, the limit can be lowered immediately but increases require a 24-hour cooling-off period. This single tool prevents most problem-gambling escalation.
3. Set Session Limits
Configure a session timer. After the configured period, the app forces a logout. This prevents the "one more bet" spiral that turns a controlled session into a problem one. 90 minutes is a common starting point.
4. Use Reality Checks
A reality check is a pop-up reminding you how long you've been playing and the running balance change. Set this to every 30 minutes. The friction breaks immersion and often prompts a sober decision to stop.
5. Self-Exclusion When Needed
If you suspect a problem, self-exclude. PariPulse offers 24-hour, 7-day, 30-day, 6-month or permanent self-exclusion. Permanent exclusion is irreversible — the operator must keep you blocked even if you change your mind. Use this proactively, not reactively.
6. Recognise Warning Signs
Common warning signs: betting more than planned; chasing losses with bigger stakes; lying about how much you're spending; feeling restless when not betting; neglecting work, school or relationships; continuing despite negative consequences. If two or more apply, take a break and read the next section.
7. Reach Out for Help
Confidential and free support is available. In India: iCall +91-9152987821 (multilingual). Internationally: BeGambleAware (begambleaware.org), GamCare 0808 8020 133 (UK helpline accepting international calls), Gamblers Anonymous (gamblersanonymous.org). Talking to someone is always better than continuing to bet through the cycle.
