What Wagering Actually Means
When a sports bonus says "5x wagering", it means you must place stakes equal to 5× the bonus amount before withdrawing the bonus profit. A 4,000 INR bonus at 5x = 20,000 INR in qualifying stakes. Most operators count only stakes at 1.40 or higher odds; some require 3+ accumulator events. Casino bonuses are stricter: 35x is industry-standard and is calculated on bonus amount only (rare) or on bonus + deposit combined (more common — read the T&Cs).
Sports vs Casino Wagering
Sports wagering is dramatically lower than casino because the operator's house edge in casino games guarantees profit in expectation. A 5x sports bonus is realistically clearable in a normal weekend of betting; a 35x casino bonus on slots requires substantial play and most players never clear it. Be honest with yourself about playstyle before claiming.
Game Contribution Rates
Not all casino games count equally toward wagering. Slots typically count 100%, classic table games (blackjack, baccarat, roulette) count 5–20%, and live tables count 10–25%. Sports markets at 1.40+ count 100% for sports wagering; cashed-out bets and bets placed at lower odds usually do not count. Always check the bonus T&Cs page for the exact contribution table.
Max Bet Rule
While wagering an active bonus, most operators cap the max stake per bet at $5–10 (or local-currency equivalent). Place a bet above the cap and the bonus is forfeited — even if your overall stakes still meet the wagering target. This is the single most common reason bonuses are voided. Set a manual reminder.
Validity Window
Sports bonuses usually have 30 days; casino bonuses 14 days. The clock starts on the deposit, not registration. If the validity expires before you finish wagering, the bonus and any associated winnings are removed. For high-wagering casino bonuses, calculate the realistic stake-rate per day before claiming.
When Not to Claim
Skip the bonus if (a) you only plan a few small bets — the wagering will outlast your interest, (b) you only play table games — the contribution rate makes it uneconomical, or (c) you cannot meet the validity window. The deposit-only welcome (no bonus) is sometimes the better commercial choice.
The Math
Calculate Expected Value before claiming. EV = (bonus amount × game RTP × wagering exposure) − wagering loss. For a 100% slots bonus with 96% RTP and 35x wagering on bonus + deposit, the expected return is negative for most players. Sports bonuses with 5x on 1.40+ odds typically have positive or neutral EV for any informed bettor.
